Instagram’s timeline is very addictive; you can scroll and scroll and forget about time and the real world. It tends to show all the posts not only in last 24 hours but posts with 48 hours old or more.  So you may not notice the time when using Instagram, and that’s really bad and addictive! Instagram has updated a feature to change this for you. You’re all caught up.

This feature will let the users know if they have seen all the posts from the last 48 hours by showing you this sentence: “You’re all caught up.”

However, you can see posts which you have already viewed. How can I get this feature?

This feature is available in the latest version of Instagram for iOS and Android. So to get it you must update your Instagram for good.





What do we know about the “You are All Caught Up” feature?


It was three years ago when Instagram introduced the new feature termed “You are All Caught Up” which lets users know when they reach the end of their feed of posts. The mission of this feature was to help avoid the addictive behavior of scrolling the screen endlessly.

The point is: the main part of the allure of social media is that we do it in what feels like private—that our behaviors are known only to ourselves, that we can present ourselves however we desire. The “You are All Caught Up” somehow will not make any change. Instead, it is an annoying message which tells you “the servers are watching you; so be careful what you are doing”.

At that many users were upset with this problem, because they had no choice but to leave the feed once they had seen all the posts made in the last two days.

But it seems Instagram has considered its previous decision as a big mistake and it has started to add suggested organic posts and ads at the end of users’ feeds, after the notification.

“Our goal is to make it clear when you are all caught up so you can decide how you want to best use your time,” explained Instagram’s director of product, Robby Stein. “We see people continuing to seek out more posts they are interested in after catching up with their feeds, so we wanted to learn from that and make it easier to go a little deeper for those who choose to do so.”


According to the present, Instagram’s new algorithm will make the suggestion based on posts from accounts like the ones the user is following. These suggested posts will contain ads but will work for photos and videos for now. However, users will also have the option of removing certain suggested posts. They can click on the three dots beside any post and tap on the “Not Interested” option.
