How to mute on zoom? (On computer and mobile)

As you use Zoom in daily activities, you may wish to mute it at meetings. Remember that you will only have the ability to mute or unmute other people if you are the host of the meeting. In contrast, participants do not have the ability to mute others.

If you are a host, after deciding to mute your participants, they will receive a pop-up notification that says, “The host would like to mute/unmute your microphone.” As participants, they will have the option to stay muted or unmute themselves.

This post will show you how to mute yourself on Zoom, or similarly, how to mute your participants on Zoom quickly.

What does “Muting” mean on zoom?

As you know, Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing platform, and it is developed to bring people in the form of a meeting or conference to discuss a specific subject.

When you mute a person on zoom (as a meeting host) or being muted (as a participant), it means your audio will be displayed in the leading cloud of the meeting so other people cannot hear it.

If the host mutes you on Zoom, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are making “noise” or any disturbance in the meeting; it could be just a preventive action to maintain the focus of participants on the lecturer.
