Finding Your Friends on Instagram

How can I find someone on Instagram?

1- Tap on the profile button at the top right of your Instagram screen, then select “find friends.”

2- You can search for your Facebook, and Twitter friends on Instagram, as well as search friends from your Contact List.  Do you want to find someone on Instagram by their phone number? An Instagram phone number search will help you find people, but mostly if it’s a company phone number, or can be seen in their Instagram profile.

3- Once you observe the list of your friends on those social networks that already have an Instagram account, you can tap “follow” to start following them on Instagram. If their Instagram account is private, you should tap “request” instead, so they can approve your follow request. You can also follow “Suggested Users” or take a look at Instagram’s Important Users Directory to find people to follow based on your interests.

4- You also may have friends that aren’t active on Twitter or Facebook but are active on Instagram. You can search for them by selecting “search Instagram” from your profile tab as well. You can search either by their name, username, or search on Instagram hashtags to find users sharing pictures you might enjoy.

5- Finally, you can find friends by clicking on the “popular” tab to see some of the most exciting posts on Instagram. If you see a picture you like, you can tap on the user who uploaded the image and start following them too.

Sometimes you will have to give people a heads up that you’d like to follow them on Instagram! With many users, Instagram usernames are different from their actual names, which is why these search tips are beneficial. When you enter Instagram, finding friends is probably one of your very first tasks.
