Why has Instagram Direct message/DM Disappeared?

Social media is one of the enjoyable ways to communicate with people. The Instagram message is one of the popular media to send and receive the message. However, it is sometimes challenging to struggle with some of its issues. One of the most reported issues is that a user cannot see the DM on the message lists, and somehow Instagram Direct message Disappeared.

Instagram direct message disappeared! Why?

If you faced such problems, of course, you were searching to know why this happened? You are in the middle of talking with someone on Instagram, and suddenly, your message conversation disappears. There are many reasons for this, from having internet problems to block someone on Instagram. Here I would explain all the reasons why Instagram direct message disappeared:

  • The sender is not in your following list

If it happens for you to see any notification that someone sent you a message, but later you open your Instagram, and the notification is not in your direct message icon, it most probably had sent by a person who is not in your following lists. To open this kind of messages you go to your Instagram direct message, and on the top right, you will see “message requests” with the number of messages that you have received.

If you tap on this, you will see the message, and you have the option to accept or decline the message. If you accept the message sender would be able to see that you have read the message.

These messages are from persons who are not in your following lists. It means if you are not following a person, Instagram recognizes his/her message like those, you might not be interested in to see more. Hiding these messages in a separate list is useful, especially for accounts that have big followers. Instagram would separate this message to another list.

  • The sender has blocked you

The second reason why your Instagram direct message disappeared could be blocking. If you cannot see a conversation on Instagram, the person might block you there. For this reason, that you should not be able to search for the person anymore, Instagram automatically would remove the conversation. However, Instagram won’t delete the conversation, and if the person decides to unblock you, you can see the conversation again.

  • The sender has deactivated the account

The same thing will happen if the sender of the message decides to deactivate the account. In this case, too, you won’t be able to see the users profile and the conversation, unless the person activates the account. You might see the notifications, but before opening the message, it will disappear because the sender deactivated the account.

  • It is unsent by the sender

Instagram has lately added a new feature to remove a message that the person has already sent. In this case, if the sender unsent it before you open the conversation, you won’t be able to see the message, and it disappears.

Another matter is, if the person removes the message before you read it, you cannot even realize who has sent the message.

Instagram message request disappeared?

There are some reasons to why the Instagram message request disappeared. The first one is due to a glitch that might cause this issue to happen.

Other reasons why Instagram message request disappeared are that you’re blocked, the account has been deactivated, or you’ve followed the person. So we discussed most of the major reasons due to which the Message Requests disappear.

Anyways, there is nothing you can do to take those disappearing Instagram messages back and to fix this.

If you don’t see your message, some of the issues mentioned above could occur. However, Instagram is a sharing photo and video platform, and even with adding new features to its direct message part, it has some weaknesses compared to an app such as WhatsApp, which is perfectly good to send and receive the message.
