New face of Instagram Profile Page

Instagram is doing some more shuffling, and this time it will affect your profile page. I guess now it’s the time for Instagram to make some changes in its appearance. Of course, it is perfect the way it is, but we can use some changes too!

In a post on Instagram press site today, they announced a redesigned profile interface. The company states that the new design makes it simpler to “connect with the people you care about on your profile” and “express yourself.”

The new profile interface not only applies to your view of your Instagram profile but also the profiles of other users.

The new interface has tabs, I mean there are tabs for “Posts,” “Grid,” “IGTV,” “Shop,” and “Tagged.”

along the top of the new interface, follower numbers, bios, and other details now wrap around your profile picture, as you can see in the screenshot picture.

Here’s how the company describes its update:

“Your profile is where you share who you are on Instagram, so starting today we’re testing ways you can better express yourself and more easily connect with the people you care about on your profile.

Over the next several weeks, you may see features re-arranged at the top of your profile including changes to icons, buttons and the way you navigate between tabs, which we hope will make profiles easier and cleaner to use. The photos and videos you’ve shared on your grid won’t change.”

The redesigned profile interface will roll out over the next several weeks, but Instagram writes that these changes will be examined and rolled out in “phases and different combinations.” This means you might see a continuous change to the profile interface on your mobile.

The company also states that the interface may develop and change throughout the rollout.

Instagram’s announcement came after Twitter announced it was also redesigning profiles in the iOS app. Twitter said, however, that it was trying to de-emphasize follower numbers, while Instagram’s redesigned profile still puts follower numbers front and center.
