Quick Fix to Instagram Live not Working

Since its birth in 2016, the real-time Instagram live feature has become so popular that it is almost impossible to imagine Instagram without it. Live streaming is now one of the must have’s and must be watched features that no Instagram user wishes to miss. However, there have been times when users experienced frustration using live stories and complained about the problems they faced.

As the Instagram live is a real-time and immediate feature, missing it can be of great pain, especially if your best friend is holding a Live on a special event of her life and you cannot join her, all because of some pesky bugs. But don’t worry! We have some quick solutions to help you fix Instagram problems. First, let’s see what challenges you might face when using live stories.

Why can’t I go live on Instagram

Recently many Instagram users report that they can’t go live on Instagram. The reason why you face problems using Instagram live is due to Instagram features, bugs, or phone bugs.

To join to an Instagram live video you should have two-person feature in your Instagram account.

As you see in the picture the username of each viewer is listed to choose from. If the viewer is able to join (they have the two-person feature rolled out to their Instagram account), their account name will be listed beneath their username. If you cannot use the two-person video, instead of their account name, it will read “Unable to join.”

Common issue you face while going live are:

  1. Unable to join
  2. You might be unable to see your friends’ Live streaming, or you see it with delay.
  3. You fail when going live.
  4. Your live video cannot be displayed for your friends.
  5. The live feature on your Instagram disappears altogether.

These are the most common issues you might face using Instagram live, but some people are also experiencing other problems. Here we want to fix them.

  4. See if any update has been released for your device. Head to the App Store (for iOS) or Play Store (for Android) and look for the Instagram application if there are any updates to the app, download and install them. The new update may fix the bug.

  2. On the application tap “Settings,” then “Help” and finally “Report a problem.” A window appears, and you should select the last option “Report a problem.” Next page is where you can name your problem and leave upload screenshot if necessary. Finally, tap “submit.”

Why can’t I Comment on a Certain Person’s Instagram posts? (comment blocked)

Like all other actions on Instagram, comments can get blocked as well on the platform. Instagram might avoid you from leaving comments under a photo of a certain person, or it might not let you add a comment on any posts at all. This incident has some reasons which I’m going to discuss down below.

Comments on this post have been limited

limited means that you should follow the person to post comments or the owner has limited the comments for close friends, or the following list only. If you see the Instagram message that comments on this post have been If you cannot see all the comments on Instagram, or you see the numbers but no comments, can be because the person has already deleted the comments, Instagram is only showing the top comments on posts, and you should tap on the comment bar to see the rest. The version of Instagram (your Instagram app is not updated), network connection, or Instagram bugs can be other reasons.

So, here is the summary of the reasons why Instagram comments disappeared or show the comments are limited:

  1. You are not following the person
  2. The sender has already deleted the comment
  3. The owner limited the comments for close friends
  4. You see the top comments only
  5. You need the latest version of the Instagram app
  6. This could be an Instagram bug
  7. You have a poor network connection

So to fix if you cannot see comments:

  • Update your Instagram app
  • Make sure you are following the person (if it not your own post)
  • Switch off and on your network connection
  • Use the Instagram desktop version
  • Use another device
  • Wait for couple of hours
Instagram comments can be limited

If you see this message comments on this post have been limited it means that the account owner is limited the comments for their followers only. In this case, you should follow the person to insert the comment. But still, you should see the comments.
If you are having trouble with your Instagram account, you can use Instazood full automation service to get rid of all issues and get more followers instantly!

Why can’t I comment on Instagram?

the reason why you can’t comment or like on Instagram is that your actions are blocked on Instagram. This might have happened to you as well that you tapped on the comment icon under a post on Instagram and you realized that Instagram is preventing you from posting your comment and you surely have been wondering why is that? An error message “Comment blocked” would immediately pop up when you press the send button under a photo or video.

Below are the reasons why you can’t comment on Instagram:

  • You do not have the latest version of Instagram installed.

Duo to what Instagram help itself has announced, the first and the most important reason why Instagram keeps you from commenting is that your app is not updated and you have not upgraded your app to the latest version available. Instagram keeps updating the platform quickly, so you must be careful always to keep your app updated not to lose access to its features or to avoid facing any issues.

  • You included more than five mentions on your comment

You might still be unaware of the fact that Instagram only allows up to 5 mentions (using @ symbol along with the username of a specific person you wish to see that post) per comment. This is one of the most common reasons why you can’t comment on Instagram posts. So if you want to mention more people, you need to make more than one comment to be able to mention all your desired accounts under that post.

  • Your comment has more than 30 hashtags

The allowed number of hashtags you can use on a single comment is 30, and this I precisely the same when you want to include hashtags in your posts. You can’t add more than 30 hashtags on your posts or an Instagram comment. This would make your comment look spamy and would lead to a comment block by Instagram.

  • You are commenting the same thing repeatedly

Your comment will surely get blocked if you try to use the same text over and over again even without changing its emojis. If you keep copy-pasting the same thing under one post or even different posts, more than usual, you will receive the comment block error, and you can’t Comment for a restricted time. So avoid doing this.

  • You have exceeded the daily limits for commenting

With the new Instagram algorithm, you are allowed to make about 180 to 200 comments per day, so, normally, your comment gets block when you overdo this action. So keep it to less than 200 comments daily not to face the comment block error.  If you want your account to be safe on the platform, never violate any of Instagram’s guidelines and always consider the safe zone of activities you make.

  • Your comment contains filtered words or phrases

There are some words and sentences that violate Instagram’s term of services, and we might be unaware of them; that’s why we mistakenly use them and face issues like this. This might be the reason why Instagram keep you from commenting, your comment might have one of those filtered words or sentences.

  • The original poster might have blocked you

If you notice that you can’t comment on only a certain person’s photos or videos, then you are most probably blocked by that person. To figure this out, try to leave a comment on another post, and if you could comment with no problems, then this guess is right.

Note: There is another error you might get while commenting which appears when the post you are trying to comment on, has been deleted and that has nothing to do with your comment function getting blocked.

How to get rid of Instagram not allowing you to comment?

This is a disconcerting experience on Instagram to get any of your actions blocked, especially comment because it is one of the most efficient ways you can interact with others and make more followers. Now that you know the things that lead to this issue, you need to avoid them, but if anyways you fell into the trap of Instagram not letting you to comment, there are a few things you can try to get out of this trap and get your comments unblocked.

  • Try to change your IP

You need to know this fact that when Instagram blocks you, it has actually blocked your IP. So to get rid of this block, you can try the steps below, and I assume one of them would work out for you.

  • Use another device

One of the ways you can change your IP and access your Instagram account with a different IP is to log in to your account from a different device than yours.

  • Get help from a proper VPN

Another way you can try to access your account safely and to be able to change your IP is to utilize a VPN. This way, your IP would change, and Instagram might not be able to know this.

  • Switch to mobile data

Every device using the Internet has two IP addresses: a public and a private one.

In your home, your router uses your public IP address—assigned by your ISP to connect to the Internet. On your mobile device, you have a public IP address. Try to use your phone’s data instead of a Wi-Fi connection to see how that’s work.

Tip: The most effective way would be to integrate all the steps above and use them all together. So grab another device and turn your mobile data on using a VPN and login to your account.

  • Be patient and wait for a whole 24 hours

If in your case the issue is temporary and this block is not going to last forever, most of the blocks are temporary and would not last more than 24 hours. So all you have to do is to keep your patience and wait until your 24 hours finish.

  • Link to your Facebook account

In most cases and for any kinds of action blocks this way has proven to be the best solution since that proves to Instagram that you are a human so that you can connect to your other socials which undoubtedly the best would be your Facebook. So just go ahead and link to your Facebook, close your app and restart the phone so that changes would get applied and guess what? You most probably can comment again.

Conclusion

If you faced the issue of Instagram that not letting you comment, you can try the steps in this blog to try to unblock your action. But the first thing is to be precautious and avoid any action that would lead to these kinds of blocks since if this happens to your account usually, you need to say goodbye to your account soon in the future since you’ll get blocked permanently.

So make sure to get a backup of your necessary data.

Fix 8: Logout from your Instagram account

Don’t get disappointed if the mentioned ways didn’t work; there are still some other solutions to receive Instagram notifications. Try logging out of your Instagram account; you should open the Instagram app and go to the profile screen, then you should tap on the three-bar icon on top right of the page and choose Setting.

At the end of the page, there is the Log Out option, tap on it and restart your phone, then log into your account again.

Fix 9: Check notification setting from a different phone

If you are logged into an Instagram account with two different devices, any changes that you make for one of them will apply for the other one. Check both devices and turn on the notification setting on both of them.

Fix 10: Disable low power mode

The low power mode on the iPhone and battery saver mode on Android, save the battery when people are running low on battery. By enabling the low power mode, apps don’t refresh in the background, and it might be the reason that you don’t get Instagram notifications. Clearly, you should deactivate the feature to get the notifications. Follow the instructions to disable the low power mode on IOS:

Step 1: Open phone Settings and go to Battery.
Step 2: Turn off the low power mode

Fix 11: Enable background refresh

You should enable the background refresh to get the notification. To enable it, you should:

Step 1: Under phone Settings, go to General
2: Scroll down and tap on Background App Refresh, turn it on, and Enable Instagram.

Fix 12: Reinstall Instagram and give notification permission on IOS

You may have noticed that when you Install Instagram for the first time, it asks you whether you want to get notifications or not, and you may have ignored and declined it.

For solving the problem, you should uninstall Instagram from your phone and restart your phone and download the app on “App Store” then Install it again. Now you’ll see two notifications that you should allow both of them.

A new issue that iPhone Xr users are facing is that they are not getting Instagram notifications on their phones. Be it a problem on the side of Instagram or an iPhone setting-related issue; we got some solution here that might be of help.

Fix Apple iPhone XR Instagram notification not working

  • Check “Do Not Disturb” setting on iPhone Xr device:

Before doing anything, check if your phone’s notification settings are restricted or not. If this is the case, then your phone should make no sound when there is any new activity or message.

Tap Settings->Do Not Disturb and disable DND (do not disturb) feature.

Now you will get all the notification from all messages received.

  • Turn on Instagram app notifications

If it is only Instagram that does not send any notifications to your iPhone Xr device, then the app configuration setting must be modified.

Go to Settings, find and tap Instagram application. Turn on Instagram notifications, and you are all set.

  • Restart your iPhone:

Usually, a simple restart will solve many problems. With iPhone Xr, this is also the case. Reboot the device and wait till it’s up again. Ask a friend to send you a direct message and see if there appears any notification or not.

  • Reset device’s all settings

Sometimes incorrect settings and configuration on the device can cause notification problems. Some settings do not match with others, so the best solution is to reset all settings to default. Instagram notification problems must be solved this way.

  • Install the latest iOS version

Most of the time, when we are not getting Instagram notifications, the problem might be due to an outdated version of iOS we use. So, an iOS update can do for the Instagram notification not working problems.

To update your operating system, do as Settings->General->Software update. Then go for the easy to follow instructions.

  • Restore iPhone Xr to Factory

As a last resort, restore to factory must take away any problem related to Instagram notifications. To do so follow Settings->General->Reset->Erase all contents and settings. Enter the passwords required and wait for the device to restore to factory settings.

Note that by doing so, all your information and contacts on the phone will be lost. So, take a backup file from all the phone’s content, and then go through it.

How to Fix Instagram DM not Working?

Once in a while, Instagram users complain about issues regarding direct messages. This is while the Instagram DM is a very important app’s feature. Fully understanding how frustrating it is when an Instagram direct message does not work, I have addressed almost all the possible issues with DMs, and the fixes to the problems will follow. When I face Instagram DM not working

Instagram users (including me) might have experienced any of the following issues when Instagram DM glitches occur:

  • Instagram is releasing a New Update in Direct Message
  • Instagram messages not sending
  • New Instagram direct messages not showing up
  • Instagram direct messages disappear
  • Instagram can’t create threads
  • Instagram says you have a message, but you don’t
  • An Instagram direct message cannot be deleted
  • Instagram message requests disappear
  • The user receives Instagram DM notifications, but there is no message
  • Users cannot receive chats from friends
  • Messages won’t open, and they seem loading forever
  • Instagram DM notification won’t go away
  • Users Can’t See replies to their messages
  • Users Can’t start a new message
  • No notification for new messages are sent

Before going through the solution, let’s make sure that we have not done anything to violate Instagram’s DM limits (Wait! Is there even a limit on Instagram direct messages? Yes, there is) which include:

  1. DM Count limits: it’s a total of 100 DM’s a day. If you have recently mass-messaged to more than 100 people in one day, then you are message-banned by Instagram.
  2. DM Spam: Never send the same message over and over to a specific account. They might get frustrated and report messages as spam.

Never exceed the limits! Restrictions are there to protect the Instagram community. But it is tough to keep the account of messages sent in a day to prevent a ban. By our Instagram Auto DM service (which is a unique Instagram tool across the web), safeguard your Instagram account from being suspected of any spammy like activity. This web-based, on desktop tool sends a total of 100 DMs a day to targeted and makes sure no single user receives two similar messages. You can use the Instazood dashboard to see your Instagram DMs, if Instagram app does not work.

Instagram bot service also help you to control your Instagram activity like follow, like, comment, or unfollow. These automated and under control actions will help you to boost your account and get more followers and engagement.

All the problems we talked about above can be solved by one of the fixes provided here. Go patiently through them and let me know which one worked for you (hopefully ;)).

One-Shot Solution (that will fix the DM not working at 99 percent of the times)

  • Check the internet connection

Sometimes, complications are as simple as a lost or weak internet signal. To make sure that it is the Internet causing trouble, try connecting to another network. If DM’s problem is fixed, then that’s it. Better to contact your internet service provider.

  • Update Instagram

Before doing anything technical, check for the app updates on the Google Play Store or App Store. Believe me, mostly, a simple Instagram update will solve not only DM problems, but also many other Instagram issues, such as app’s low performance, posts not showing up, video freezes, commenting bugs, etc.

  • Go a version back!

Just opposite the previous case, sometimes updates might cause problems to Instagram. If you have recently updated Instagram and right after the update, Instagram DMs not working issue happened, then the chances are the phone is not compatible with new changes made to the app.

First, check the version number of the Instagram app already installed on your phone, and then search the web for a version back. Uninstall the app and finally install the older version.

  • Uninstall and re-install Instagram

This is another fix that usually works. Sometimes, the app installed might have lost some data needed to display Instagram DM. Uninstalling and installing it afresh will restore all the lost data and get everything works as usual.

  • Check your device or It is a new DM update from Instagram

Instagram is releasing a new update to introduce the Vanish Mode in Direct Message, which allow you to see who is taking screenshots or recording your messages. If you cannot see the messages, or Instagram DM is not working it can be due to Instagram newest update. So, it is better to wait for couple of days to see if the probelme fixed.

To see if the direct message problem is due to the device or it’s a software-related issue, try logging into Instagram account using another device or web-based Instagram (a.k.a. webstagram). If the DM worked in the new device or on the web browser, then something is wrong with the phone.

For starts, clear the phone’s cache or lighten the memory. Sometimes a full cache or device memory won’t let new messages download and be displayed. If clearing the memory and cache doesn’t work, then updating the phone’s OS and/or reset factory might work. If nothing made you any good, then contact the phone’s service provider and seek more professional help.

Take-action Solutions (to fix Instagram DM problems not caused by you or your device)

  • You are blocked by the receiver

If an Instagram direct message cannot be sent to a particular friend, then the chances are that they have blocked your account. To know if they have blocked you, go to their page, and none of their posts will be displayed.

  • You are not following the receiver

For Instagram privacy matters, some users prefer to receive messages only from followers. Then follow them first and try sending DM’s again.

  • In-group messaging is not allowed

Some threads on Instagram contain limited permissions, and not everybody in the group can send DM’s to the thread. Contact the thread owner and ask them for in-group messaging permission.

  • This is an Instagram server-side problem

If nothing has worked yet, then most probably it is Instagram causing the pain! Which means all you can do is only to wait and wait! To make sure if this is the case, ask friends for similar trouble with Instagram DM. Or go to Insatgramdown page on Twitter and see if people are talking about Instagram DMs not working.

This page lets users know about any problem users experience with Instagram

But if only you are experiencing the direct messages trouble, then it’s time to contact Instagram support and seek help. This is how to contact Instagram support:

How do I contact Instagram directly?

Unfortunately, most often than not, Instagram does not reply to users. So we recommend in case of not receiving any answer from Instagram support, send them a message on Twitter or tweet the problem and mention @Instagram. This will hopefully work.

Remember to mention Instagram in the tweet

Over to you

I tried to think of all possible Instagram DM issues and their fixes, as far as my brain could help. There might some solutions or problems be ignored. So, I would be more than grateful if you could help me and the other DM-suffered users to find new ways out of it! Looking forward to your comments below on how you solved your problem.
