Engaging Instagram Post Ideas for Small Businesses

The content on the brand’s social networks can be “covered with dust”: the headings are already familiar to the readers; the posts have become boring. What to do? Look for new options. But, finding ideas is not that easy.

We have selected content options for small businesses on Instagram that will help marketers and SMMs present a brand in a relevant way and forget what a creative block is.

Show that the brand cares

The brand cares about the environment, society, local community or animals.

In recent years, people have become more aware of the world’s environmental problems. They expect more than just good prices and good products. They want to have a positive impact on the world.

Expressing such concern for a brand on Instagram will improve people’s attitudes towards the company.

For example, the KappAhl chain of stores offers gift certificates to their customers for bringing old clothes and shoes for recycling and sustainable recycling.

Expand your brand identity

Brand pages are different from the accounts of influencers, bloggers, and regular Instagram users. Often, everything that companies usually show to subscribers is strictly planned according to the strategy for several months before the release.

This is the specificity of promoting an Instagram page. But does it hurt to be more extraordinary sometimes? Help your subscribers get to know you a little better. Show not only the shop window, but also what is happening behind it. Show off a creatively cluttered studio, workspace, or create a short video clip of how you work.

BUT don’t make a gallery of sleepy faces in a serious meeting at 10am Monday morning. Show something interesting or funny. It can be anything – an employee working at a desk; a service dog sprawled on the bed; or a Bollywood-style dance number featuring the office.

It’s good to be more extraordinary sometimes. It inspires sympathy and brings you closer to your audience.

Exclusive offers, discounts or special promo codes

Community-exclusive offers help your audience feel special. For example, you can inform on the page about the start of the sale before the information becomes available to site visitors or regular customers offline. Or create exclusive gift promo codes for the Instagram community. You can offer a special coupon code. In return, ask to mention the post on Instagram when placing an order or booking a service.

A great example for a chain of coffee shops. An original exclusive for customers – to paint portraits of customers on cups.

By the way, promo codes will be useful not only for subscribers, but also for marketers. They will show how many customers come from the site. This will help to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of advertising. And, if necessary, make changes to the promotion strategy.

Interview or synopsis

Is there an expert in your field that you admire? Or a client with an interesting story?

An interview with a specialist, answers to frequently asked questions from users or a brief product overview. This is content that is beautiful from every angle. Subscribers receive useful information, and the brand shows its expertise and answers the most popular questions or needs.

This type of content can be promoted in several ways:

  • Regular publications in the feed. For example, a video up to 60 seconds with a synopsis or the highlights of an interview.

  • Instagram Stories. Selected excerpts from the interview can be published here. Just remember that each story can be up to 15 seconds long. If you add a longer video, for example 45 seconds, Instagram will automatically split it into short stories. Do not forget to add subtitles to Stories, as many users watch them with the sound turned off.

  • IGTV. On IGTV, you can publish the entire interview and then promote it in your profile or Stories.

  • Live Stream. Are you confident, well prepared and able to act spontaneously? Answer questions live, conduct an interview with a guest / expert, or review a product. Then you can save the video, edit and use later in the feed or Stories.

Hot topics

Is there a hot topic that everyone is talking about that relates to your brand? Don’t ignore the hype.

This will join a broader topic that is already engaging a lot of Instagram users. Moreover, the event may not always be directly related to the activities of the company. For example, Dodo Pizza has released a series of products to mark the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

Useful content

Do users ask the same questions multiple times a day? Help people solve a popular problem.

For example, a short one-minute tutorial video will explain how to do something in an easy and accessible way. Or post a before / after product image with written instructions in the comments. Alternatively, an image carousel with a step-by-step guide

How-to posts make you an expert in your field and provide valuable insight to your audience. For example, like the feed of marketer Neil Patel, which is filled with short videos and slides with helpful tutorials.

Ask users a question

By asking questions, you encourage subscribers to share thoughts and ideas on almost any topic. These opinions will help you create content that will interest your audience. For example, if you are a fitness trainer, ask, “What is your purpose in going to the gym?” Subscriber responses will help you frame a ton of new content or create a custom workout.

Surveys also help intrigue and shape audience expectations. For example, the Epica yoghurt brand did this by talking about the imminent release of new flavors in a survey format.

The examples in this article are just a few of the posting content options. The Internet is constantly replenished with new examples of posts and instructions for creating spectacular posts. Get inspired, create posts and delight your subscribers with interesting content.

How to Get your First 1000 Followers on Instagram?

If you have recently opened an Instagram account, and you are looking to grow it, you are at the right place. I would explain five steps to get your first 1000 followers. I have divided the steps according to the number of followers. Follow the instruction carefully.

How long does it take to get 1000 followers on Instagram?

It depends on many factors including the account opening date, the niche, your connections. I assume that you have recently opened your Instagram account and you have no platform to connect your Instagram account. You are not connected to any Instagram campaign.

It may takes up to 3 months for you to get your first 1000 followers if you follow for follow, engage in Instagram activities (comments on public posts, like public posts, use hashtags).

Let’s see how it takes up to 3 month. We assume that 1 out of ten would follow you back, and you follow-unfollow 100 per day. It means that you can get up to `10 followers daily. Then in the end of 3rd month, you would have 900 followers.

Here is a step-by-step guide for getting the follower on Instagram. From Zero to Hero!

#Step 1: Tips for getting the first 300 followers

Once I opened my account, like all others, I had no follower, but gradually, I could find my niche and grow my account. Though at first, it looks challenging and confusing, there are some tips to get there better and sooner.

  • You should choose a proper username. It is better to select a short and readable one. You can use an underscore, or dot to add more readability to your username. Once I was searching for big accounts, I found that people follow readable usernames more easily. It’s logical! Isn’t it?
  • Write a proper bio; I have entirely explained how to write a bio to attract more users in the Instagram famous Your bio should show what you might bring for others. For example, you are going to make them happier or healthier.
  • Add your contacts! If you have no problems to add your contact list into your following list, it is an excellent strategy to start, to get about 100 followers. Because these people would know you already and the chance is more they follow you back. In this way, you can add to your follower list.
  • Have at least six posts, to start and find your relevant hashtags to help you to reach more people at first. You can add up to 30 hashtags to your posts, people would see your posts (if your account is public) on their feeds, and this may encourage them to follow you.
  • Finding your target users is one of the best ways to start growing your account. One way is to see the lists of your competitors’ followers. You can check it from their profile. Though, once I started to follow those targeted users, it was time-consuming and with some Instagram limitation. Using Instagram bot can assist you in automating these actions with no restriction. In this way, I could get my 300 followers just in a few days.

Why should you switch into a business account?

People might think if they are running a personal account, or they do not have any services, or product no need to switch to a business account. Hopefully, Instagram has given this option for free and for all users. Even you have a personal one, it is better to swath, it is easy, and there are lots of benefits there for you.

Once you are growing your account understanding the analysis help you a lot. In a business account, you can see all insight, and you will know which posts are more favorable, or what people are looking for in your page, which makes them encouraged to follow you. So, I highly recommend using this opportunity before going to the next steps.

Why is analytics important?

At first, you might not consider the Instagram insight very carefully, but this section is entirely related to your account, especially if you are running a business account. If you know your target market is young people, so it is better for you to attract more young people on your account and Instagram shows this for you that what percentage of your account followers are people aged 25-34.

#Step 2: Get your 300-500 followers

Now the second step is to work on a 500-follower account, a good move for you! At this stage, you better have at least 18 posts.

  • You should Keep consistency while using Instagram because an Instagram algorithm can recognize your engagements and presence. You might read the Instagram instruction itself, that people who post once a week, get five times more commitments than who post once a month. So, keep posting at least once a day.
  • Using your Instagram bot features, like the direct message, comment tracker, post schedule, and so on. All of this shows your profile to others, and if they like your content, they will follow you, and it should not take more than a few days.
  • Start working on Instagram stories and take advantages of that, this also led to more engagements and along with other tips you can reach to your first 500 followers.

#Step 3: Grow from 500 to 700 followers

Now you have passed half of the way. How does it feel? Sometimes it looks tough, but it is possible. The vital point you should know that you have to be patient. Many of other people you see that have many followers had the same experience. So, do not give up. In this stage, I would talk about high-quality content.

  • The content is significant. Try to keep the original one, and your posts. Do not copy and do not look for short ways like this. Though repost is allowed on Instagram, you should write the origin links.
  • You can enhance your photography skills and prepare some self-made documentaries. There are always new things that you can work on them. Hopefully, there are many tools that you can use to make more visually stunning pictures or even videos.
  • The type of content should be related to your aim; you have also written on your bio. If you post on very different topics, people may do not like to stay. So, you better be focused on your unique identity which you have made on your Instagram account. In this way, you have given a character to people to recognize you. You also will be known for this identity, which supports you to grow your account even more than 1000 followers.

#Step 4: Get your 700-900 followers!

You are closer to your 1k followers! Ready? From this now, you should care about the details. For this purpose, you need analytics. Hopefully, Instagram would provide you this tool for free.

  • Though, you should switch your account into a business one. It is easy. Once you have done, after having 100 followers, you can go to your profile, click on the top right, a three lined icon. The first option is insight. If you click on that, you would see the analytics.
  • Always use stories IG to show you have a new post. You can also share your feed posts to your stories because this help people see your posts more often.

#Step 5: Almost there! Get your 900-1000 followers!

This step is the final one to see 1k users are following you. Keep in mind that you need to get the assistance of tools like some Instagram bot to help you in follow, like, comment, and Instagram ِDM.

  • Send a welcome message with the help of an Instagram bot. This would give others a sense of being relevant to you, and also you have somehow privatized the conversation, which is a good feeling to others.
  • Introduce your page with the power of the direct message. You can introduce your products, or your account in the direct message quickly. Many of them would look into your profile and follow you.
  • Follow, like, and comment because they would see your profile more, and the probability of getting more followers is higher than when you are absent.
  • Add your username to your posts because when people share your stories not directly from your page, others can find you through the stickers you have put on the posts.

Optimize your captions because it gives others a sense of reality. An easy to understand descriptions would work better for your Instagram account because people can have a better feeling when reading your text. Friendliness is good to get more followers. So, while you are writing your caption, write it amiably and also write something to induce people to engage, like asking a question.

  • Ask followers to tag their friends on your posts or in the comments when you are writing your post’s captions. In this way, tagged people may follow you after seeing your posts.

All the secret about getting follower and encourage others to follow you is about building relationships, do several posts, and keeping consistency.

What is a good Engagement Rate on Instagram?

Instagram is a popular social media platform that has provided a great opportunity for brands and influencers to make more money and gain fame. To measure the quality of their presence, the engagement rate on Instagram was introduced as an important metric. It is a measure of how your followers interact with your Instagram posts and how you respond to them in return.

How is the Instagram engagement rate calculated?

The engagement rate on Instagram is the total number of likes and comments divided by the total number of followers and then multiplied by 100 to get the percentage.

→ An Instagrammer with 100,000 followers and an engagement rate of 3% = 3000 likes + comments (totally)!

There are some tools by which you can type the username and get the engagement rate for any Instagram user such as phlanx and triberr. However, they are not totally free.

What is a good Instagram engagement rate?

It is said that the engagement rate on Instagram is higher than other social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter. An engagement rate of 0.5-1% for Twitter and Facebook is high, whereas it is between 3% and 6% for Instagram.

Engagement rate level
less than 1% low
between 1% and 3.5% average/good
between 3.5% and 6% high
above 6% very high

Now you can calculate and determine the level of your Instagram engagement rate. So what?

A low engagement rate says a lot about you. If you have a lot of followers but a low engagement rate, the reason may be that your followers are fake, or you own a spam or spoof Instagram profile.

On the other hand, a high engagement rate with a relatively small number of followers is indicative of your quality presence. It shows you’ve developed a great relationship with your followers, your contents are valuable, your followers are loyal, and they trust you, etc.

Engagement rate is an important element when top brands or businesses want to work or partner with you as an influencer. They are smart enough to know that the high engagement rate of an influencer shows that the audience believes firmly in him/her and are not doubtful whether they should trust and use the product or service that influencer is advertising for.

As you may know, there is a wide range of industries on Instagram including food & beverage, health & beauty, fashion, sports, etc. Each of these industries bears its own engagement rates according to the statistic. A survey in 2019, as shown below, has revealed that the higher average engagement rate per post was for “Higher Ed” (about 3.96%) followed by “Sports Teams” and “Nonprofits” (2.4 % for both).

How to boost the Instagram engagement rate?

Instagram is a highly competitive world if you want to market your brand and gain supportive followers. The competition amongst businesses or influencers has never been steeper until now. You have to take the time and effort to stand out from the crowd and achieve a higher engagement rate.  Below tips will be helpful in this journey:

  • Choose an appealing profile photo
  • Complete your Instagram bio
  • Share daily hot news related to your industry (especially in stories)
  • Write longer valuable captions
  • Choose the best timing for your posts
  • Schedule Instagram posts in advance to better manage them
  • Reply to comments and like them
  • Reply to direct messages on Instagram (Although it doesn’t have a direct impact on the engagement rate, it can enhance your reputation and so likes and comments increase)
  • Make a list of your targets and follow them from time to time
  • Pay attention to hashtags

What Does Rate 9 Mean On Instagram?

There is a well-known scale amongst Instagram users that ranges from 1 to 10 and shows how attractive a profile is based on various factors. For instance, they call you “Ugly” in your school or industry if you have a rate of 3. The higher the rate, the more attractive you are.

It’s a Pretty Brutal Scale

If Instagrammers consider you as having a rate 9, it means that you are wanted! Traditionally, a rate 9 indicates that you have many followers and a good Instagram engagement rate. Cheerleaders and prom queens hold this rating. You are regarded as perfect if you have a rate of 10, while a range of 1 says that you are way below the pecking order.

The adjectives that Instagram users apply for each rate between 1-10 are shown below.

How to Find your LinkedIn Page Engagement Rate?

LinkedIn is a scary monster to undertake. Many people use it, but it’s difficult to understand. A lot of the content there are typically work oriented, mainly a significant focus on personal development.

People are interested in personal advancement, but everyone is sharing this type of content.

Your LinkedIn plan may need a change. Analytics, especially engagement might be the key. Engagement rate is an especially important metric for brands on LinkedIn given how hard it is to get an audience on the network.

What is LinkedIn engagement rate?

On LinkedIn, engagement depends on the relationship between your profile and your followers, and also the picture that you supply to businesses within the same specialization. As we stated before, holding the right level of engagement isn’t easy, as there are a lot of people who are presumably competent professionals in their area too.

The estimation of LinkedIn engagement can assist you in defining the plans of action, letting you understand if you are following the right policy or if your followers are reacting adequately. It can also let you find possible errors that you might be getting or can show you the divisions that you are missing when you define your target audience.

LinkedIn doesn’t present the calculation of the engagement rate on the platform. There are some different ways to measure the engagement rate:

  • Manually, examining the interactions that your followers had with your posts by yourselves. We can find out how many likes, comments or shares we receive to decide whether we are on the right track or not.
  • Using LinkedIn Analytics. Still, the info given is not impeccable, and it’s hard to understand.

How to Increase your Engagement on Instagram?

Instagram is one of the quickest developing social media platforms in the world and is expected to pass 2 billion users this year. People tend to spend more time on Instagram than they do on Twitter and Facebook.

So if you already have an Instagram account and want to drive more engagement to it, you have come to the right place. In this article, I am going to share some easy methods to get more engagement on Instagram.

Ways to Increase your Engagement on Instagram

First of all: Define your goals!

Why are you using Instagram? If you’re just sharing a few pictures just hoping for the best, you will get nowhere my child! Define your goals and find out what you need to achieve and design a strategic plan to reach it. Here are the items that can be the foundation of your strategy:

  • Define your objectives: Do you want to drive more traffic to your website, more clicks, build a brand awareness or to generate more sales?
  • Define your target audience: What does your current or potential customer look like? What are their favorite subjects? What would they prefer to see on Instagram?

Engage and inspire

Replying the positive comments under your posts with a simple ‘Thanks’ looks pretty manageable. Though, engagement on Instagram means, well, trying to be more social. Leverage your followers and fans to create UGC (user-generated content). One of the most significant advantages of planning a good hashtag strategy is to develop and engage with your niche community. These are existing followers, relevant influencers and potential customers. Explore to see which hashtag is popular in your community and influencers and apply them on your posts. Run campaigns and competitions for pictures shared using your branded hashtag, an excellent way to increase your engagement, reach and gain more followers for your brand.

Get visually creative!

Users are viewing your profile and posts on a mobile device, to make your photos or videos stand out between them. Always try to take pictures in portrait format to get more engagement and screen space — influential visuals with less text. For instance, do not post a picture of your menu if you are a restaurant, display a yummy photo of your foods with a link to your digital menu.

#Hashtag worm!

Using relevant hashtags is necessary for your Instagram marketing. Up to 30 hashtags are allowed on Instagram but try not to overuse them; I think 11 to 13 looks more decent to use. Instagram hashtags are a simple and easy way to be found by other users who might be interested in your work. The following hashtags should almost always be included.

Which Hashtag should I use?

  • Category: Your niche, productor service.
  • Description: What is your picture of?
  • Expertise: Your precise area of knowledge, e.g., #doctor, #personaltrainer.
  • Community: Use your community as a hashtag such as #dronestagram for instance which is used by most drone artists.
  • Location: Where you are. If you are running your business in a big city use the hashtag for your exact location- e.g., #NottingHill- instead of just #London. Still, if you offer a city-wide delivery service for fast food or pizza, then you can use #LondonPizza

Post at the right time

When should you post your content on Instagram and how often? There is no perfect time for posting on Instagram. However generally the best times to post on Instagram are between midday and 1 pm and evenings from 7 to 9 pm. Thursdays and Wednesday are usually the best and Sundays are the worst. Remember to use your own Instagram account stats- which you can find in your options if you switch to business account- to find out when the best time to post is.

The methods outlined above will let you reach a deeper level of organic engagement on your Instagram. Still, as always content is the king here! The key is to post content that your target audience wants to see, learn, watch and share.

Don’t forget to comments us below and share your successful methods.

How to Join an Instagram Engagement Group (to Boost Your Engagement)

Are you ready to up your Instagram game, by using engagement groups to boost likes, comments, and followers? Then you need to join an Instagram engagement group! Instagram engagement groups are all the rage these days — the hard part is finding a good one and gaining an invite.

If you want to learn what it takes to find and join the best engagement groups you’ve come to the right place. Engagement groups can help you boost your engagement, get featured on the Instagram Explore Page, go viral, and gain hundreds to thousands of new followers as a result. But it does take time, patience, and a whole lot of dedication in order to see the best results.

1. Typical Instagram Engagement Groups or DM Groups

In a typical Instagram engagement group, each member lets the group know when they’ve published a new post on Instagram. This is usually done through a group Instagram DM. Then, each member of the group must like and/or comment on that person’s post as soon as they can.  Different engagement groups have different rules for when this has to be done by, but in general, each member must catch up on giving likes/comments before they are allowed to post their own to the group.

The likes + comments received from group members help you boost the engagement and visibility of your post on Instagram, which in turn helps you attract new followers. Where to find Instagram DM Groups in your niche: Either ask around other large accounts in your niche or try a Facebook group. You’ll need to look for Social Media or Instagram-related Facebooks groups — many of them have a weekly thread for people forming Instagram engagement groups or pods. You can find someone in your niche and ask to join theirs, or post a listing in one of these groups to find members of your own group.

2. Instagram Rounds Groups on Telegram

In a “Rounds” engagement group on Telegram, the basic idea is the same as a normal Instagram engagement group but with a few key differences. Let me explain. The Telegram rounds groups are hosted inside groups on the Telegram chat app (it’s similar to WhatsApp and Kik if you haven’t heard of it before). Depending on the group, there may be hundreds or even thousands of members. In a Telegram rounds group, everyone posts at specific scheduled times and not sporadically throughout the day.

For example:

If you’re in a group of 100 people with a Round scheduled at 1 PM, you’ll get 100 new likes on your most recent post on Instagram, starting at 1 PM.

You must reciprocate as well, so you must also give 100 likes back — one to each participating group member. This must all be completed (usually) within an hour so everyone gets the best results possible. Most Telegram engagement groups host several scheduled rounds each day that occur every day. You can pick and choose which rounds you participate in, and aren’t obligated to “catch up” on rounds that you missed or did not participate in.

Make sure to respect the rules of the group and ask questions if you’re having trouble. Group members do not appreciate “leechers” who drop their names and receive likes/comments but who do not reciprocate to the rest of the group. You’ll be kicked out of the group in the drop of a hat if you become a repeat offender.

Rounds are usually much more effective than Instagram DM engagement groups for a couple of reasons:

The more engagement you get on a post and the faster you get it, the higher Instagram ranks it in the algorithm. The more engagement you get, the wider your reach, and the faster you will grow. So the bigger the group the better your results, and by organizing that group to get likes/comments fast you make it even more powerful. If you manage to reach a high enough engagement level fast enough, your post can make it to the Instagram Explore Page.

What happens when you get featured on the Instagram Explore Page? Crazy explosive results like this…

…plus a HUGE spike in views, likes, and comments! These big boosts in engagement can result in spikes in follower growth like these:

Why does this happen?

Once one of your posts lands on the Instagram Explore Page, your post will be seen by a much wider audience than before. It also has huge potential to go viral if you are posting great content — which can result in the numbers shown above.

This generally doesn’t happen when you use typical Instagram DM engagement groups for two reasons:

  1. You get your likes/comments sporadically and not all at once. This won’t help boost your content as effectively.
  2. Instagram DM groups are limited to 15 people per group. So at best, you’re limiting yourself to a boost of an extra 15 likes/comments. Rounds groups can be much bigger, and give you much better results in the end.

An alternative route you could take in order to make Instagram DM groups effective is to join a whole bunch. If you’re in 8-10 DM groups you’ll be getting up to 150 likes or comments on your newly posted content. The only problem is you won’t get all of this engagement all at once when it has the largest effect. But if you manage to get into a few DM groups with large accounts in your niche, these can be incredibly effective in boosting your content to the Instagram Explore Page all on its own.

In addition to trying your luck with Instagram engagement groups, you should still have a reliable Instagram growth strategy in place to consistently grow your following.

How to use emojis to get more engagement on Instagram

So we want to take a moment and find out how important it is to have emojis in our life and what benefits they have brought to our social media lives.

Social media is all about human connections, and it can be tough to connect with others without showing some emotion. In fact, talking to someone without facial expressions and without showing reactions is a little creepy and robotic. Do you remember the text messages we used to send to each other before emojis come around? Guessing the feeling of the audience was tough. And sometimes it led to misunderstandings and fights!

So thank God for emojis right?

Instagram is the most visual social media around so you can guess the importance of using emojis in it. Just a month after releasing emojis on iOS and Android keyboards, Instagram had a 10% increase in using emojis on its channel. Today, over 50% of the captions and comments on Instagram contain at least two emojis!

The better thing is you can use these lovely expressions on hashtags today! So imagine what you can do with these opportunities!

Emojis are universal!

The best thing about emojis is that they don’t have a specific language. You can talk to anyone anywhere with just using emojis and showing the expression! So it eliminates the need for texting!

Some brands get advantages of this, in some pizza places the customers can order a pie or a pizza by merely sending the emoji to their social media account! So you don’t even have to pick up the phone and order the food! You can just send a pic and all done!

The top 100 emojis on Instagram

Instagram’s visual connection is creating excellent opportunities for brands to connect with their customers and fans. So emojis are really helpful here, you can think: which characters are most famous for the users?

Using emojis on a business account

You can just get closer to your audience by showing them some human expressions with emojis. This will get you closer to your costumes, and they will feel that you are one of them, a human! Not just a business robot who just wants to make more money from them!

The most popular emoji was “camera,” which appeared 85 times in the 2,500 posts—but it didn’t generate much engagement compared with the heart, which was also the second most used by brands (55 times).

Where can you use emojis?

  1. On your bio

Your Instagram bio shows your personality and style, no matter what that is. Fun, busy, professional, cute, serious, animal lover, food lover, whatever your brand is, you should define it by emojis too.

  1. On your caption

You can use emojis in your post captions too. This can be a chance to get a better personality to your brand with every post and message you write. It’s simple. Don’t get obsessed with it.

  1. In Your Comments

Something you can do a LOT is responding to Instagram comments with emojis. You can use a bunch of facial affect emojis for nearly all responses. This is the way of attaching personality and emotion to an answer or comment without sinking your posts with emojis.

If you don’t use emojis on Instagram, try some of these methods and start using them more often. Just don’t start writing entirely in emojis. 😉
