Instagram Is Testing a Feature to Tag People on Videos

Instagram is currently testing a new way to tag your friend’s accounts to your videos. This can be a great way for personal, and business Instagram accounts to get rid of writing names on their videos and an excellent idea to promote your business account.

Instagram picture tags produce little clickable symbols to reveal who is in the picture when you click on them, but that is not how the new test is performing on videos. Alternatively, it drives you to a separate page with a list of everyone tagged in the video. That will make it challenging to recognize individual people in the video, but it refutes the problem of people moving approximately in the clip and being tagged mistakenly.

The Instagram test is started with a minimal number of Instagram users. If it is considered a success, we may shortly notice the feature roll out to all users, but there will be several changes.

How does it work?

Right now, if you are tagged from an Instagram account which is testing the feature, it would not appear on your profile. This will be changed for the final roll out. It is running only on mobile phones at this moment, so you can’t use it on the web.

We would prefer to see the company come up with a method that tracks users for tagging rather than driving you to a separate page. We would prefer to see the company come up with a technique that tracks users for tagging rather than driving you to a different page.

That is not going to happen soon though, so, you will have to be happy with this new video tagging feature. The releasing time of this feature depends on how great Instagram thinks the test has performed, but it feels like a feature we have been needing on the social network for some time.
